As an In-House Solicitor, you will provide comprehensive legal support across various areas of law, including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and litigation management

What you’ll be doing

• Provide legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal issues affecting the water industry, including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, procurement, employment law, and data protection.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, agreements, and legal documents, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, service agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
• Assist in managing legal risks and compliance obligations, including monitoring changes in relevant laws and regulations, conducting legal research, and developing policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
• Assist in the resolution of legal disputes, litigation, and regulatory proceedings involving the company, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel as needed.
• Provide legal support and guidance to other departments within the company, including human resources, finance, procurement, and compliance, to ensure legal issues are appropriately addressed.
• Stay informed about developments in relevant areas of law, industry trends, and regulatory changes, and proactively advise on potential legal implications for the company.
• Handle legal inquiries and requests from internal stakeholders, external parties, and regulatory authorities in a timely and professional manner.

What you'll bring to the role

• Qualified solicitor in the United Kingdom, with a valid practicing certificate or trainee solicitor due to qualify by September 2025.
• Up to 2 years of post-qualification experience, preferably gained in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
• Strong knowledge and experience in commercial law, contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
• Experience working in the water industry or other regulated sector is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents and contracts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal and regulatory compliance.
